A major commotion broke out at Gaur Mall, located in Raj Nagar District Centre (RDC), Ghaziabad, after a screening of actor Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ was abruptly stopped midway, triggering a heated dispute between theatre staff and audience members who had come with children.
The incident occurred when the theatre management halted the show upon realizing that minors were present in the auditorium, despite the film carrying an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The sudden stoppage left children and their parents shocked, soon escalating into arguments and chaos inside the cinema premises.
Objectionable Content Sparks Controversy
According to eyewitnesses and viral video footage circulating on social media, several viewers can be heard complaining about the film containing frequent abusive language and objectionable content, even though some portions were allegedly beeped. Audience members questioned how tickets were issued to families with children for an adult-certified film.
The theatre staff reportedly clarified that allowing minors to watch an ‘A’-rated movie is a clear violation of CBFC guidelines, forcing them to stop the screening mid-show.
Heated Arguments, Alleged Scuffle
As dissatisfaction grew over the lack of a satisfactory explanation, tensions flared, leading to heated arguments and alleged pushing and shoving between theatre staff and some viewers. Mall security personnel had to intervene to control the situation and prevent further escalation.
Multiple videos of the incident, recorded by spectators on their mobile phones, have since gone viral, drawing widespread criticism and raising serious questions about the theatre’s ticketing and content verification process.
Police Initiate Probe
The Ghaziabad Police confirmed that they have received information regarding the incident and are investigating the matter based on video evidence and complaints from both sides. Officials stated that appropriate action will be taken after examining the facts.
Questions Raised on Theatre Management
The incident has sparked sharp criticism of the theatre management, with viewers questioning how tickets were booked for children in the first place and why proper checks were not conducted at the entry point. The episode has once again highlighted concerns over cinema compliance with certification rules, audience safety, and accountability.
