Good News for Ghaziabad: Hindon Airport to Get Direct Public Transport Connectivity, Over 50,000 People to Benefit

In a major boost to public transport and air travel convenience, Hindon Civil Terminal (Hindon Airport) in Ghaziabad will soon be directly connected through city bus services. From the New Year, passengers will no longer have to rely solely on cabs, autos, or e-rickshaws, as dedicated city and AC bus routes have been finalized, benefiting more than 50,000 commuters.

According to officials, City Transport Services Limited (CTSL) and the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation will jointly launch bus services on two new routes in the first phase. Surveys were conducted earlier to identify new routes, following which five routes were shortlisted, and preparations are underway to deploy 50 new buses on city roads.

Key Routes Finalised

One major route will operate from Madhuban Bapu Dham to Hindon Civil Terminal, covering important locations such as Hapur Chungi, Old Bus Stand, Thakur Dwara, New Bus Stand, Hindon River, Mohan Nagar, Karan Gate Chowki, Pasonda, and Hindon Air Force Station. This route is expected to significantly ease travel for airport passengers, especially those without private vehicles.

Another route will connect Wave City to Dilshad Garden, further strengthening regional connectivity. The services are planned to begin in January, officials confirmed.

Expansion by Transport Corporation

In addition to city bus services, the state transport corporation is preparing to deploy buses on seven long-distance routes from January. These include routes to Muzaffarnagar, Modinagar, Aligarh, and Kasganj, while three additional routes are yet to be finalized.

Addressing Transport Gaps

At present, passengers traveling to Hindon Airport largely depend on cabs, e-rickshaws, and autos, making travel costly and inconvenient. CTSL Managing Director K.N. Chaudhary stated that discussions are in the final stages to operationalize the two airport-linked routes. “Our aim is to provide affordable, reliable, and direct connectivity to Hindon Airport in the New Year,” he said.

Challenges and Preparations

Ghaziabad City Transport currently has 50 e-buses, of which 36 are operational. Several buses have been non-functional since the monsoon season and are now being repaired to ensure smooth operations on the new routes.

Meanwhile, the transport corporation’s 38 e-buses remain parked at the Sahibabad depot due to the lack of charging infrastructure. Currently, only four buses are operating on the Mathura route. Officials acknowledged that resolving charging point issues is critical to fully utilizing the available fleet.

A Step Towards Better Urban Mobility

Once operational, the direct bus connectivity to Hindon Airport is expected to reduce traffic congestion, lower travel costs, and promote the use of public transport. The initiative marks a significant step toward improving urban mobility and sustainable transport in Ghaziabad, offering much-needed relief to daily commuters and air travelers alike.
