Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Police for the successful surrender of a woman Naxalite in Balaghat district. Dr. Yadav commended the police for their consistent success in controlling Naxal activities across the state.
On November 1, Sunita, a hardcore armed Naxalite carrying a reward of ₹14 lakh, surrendered at Chauriya Camp under Lanji Police Station, Balaghat, along with her INSAS rifle, three magazines, 30 live rounds, and a UBGL shell. Her surrender marks the first under the Madhya Pradesh Surrender, Rehabilitation, and Relief Policy 2023, and notably, the first time since 1992 that an armed Naxalite from another state has surrendered before the Madhya Pradesh Government.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that this surrender reflects the success of the state’s effective rehabilitation policy and reaffirmed that the anti-Naxal campaign will continue with full force. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the state is determined to achieve complete Naxal control within the coming year.
Dr. Yadav praised the dedication of the police force, noting that in the past 10 months, Naxal operatives with a combined bounty of ₹1.46 crore have been neutralized. He also highlighted the positive outcomes of the Police Outreach Program, which has encouraged several extremists to surrender and return to the mainstream.
Sunita, daughter of Bisru Oyam, a resident of Gomveta village, Bhairamgarh tehsil, Bijapur district (Chhattisgarh), was an Area Committee Member (ACM) of the Malajkhand-Darrekasa Dalam, operating across Madhya Pradesh, Gondia, and Rajnandgaon (GRB Division). She joined the Maoist organization in 2022, underwent six months of armed training in the Maad region of Chhattisgarh, and later worked as a guard for senior Maoist leader Ramder.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh remains vigilant toward any Naxal activities originating from neighboring states like Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The government is equally committed to offering rehabilitation and reintegration opportunities to those who renounce violence and embrace peace.
He concluded, “This surrender is a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in the region. The Madhya Pradesh Police, with its firm commitment and humane approach, will continue its mission to eliminate Naxalism and guide misguided youth back to the path of progress and national development.”
